I had a stall shower removed and the walls finished off to make a closet to store quilting materials and supplies. When trying to decide what I was going to use for shelving based on the size I needed and the weight it needed to hold, I came across this unit. I liked the fact that the shelves were completely adjustable, it came in the size I needed and could hold the load.I ordered this unit and it came the other day. I was amazed at how easy this actually was to assemble, it took me longer to figure out how I wanted the shelves configured than putting it together. It is a nice sturdy unit and has really helped me to organize my bins of material and make them more accessible when I'm working on my charity quilts. This is a great sturdy, functional and visually appealing product and I would highly recommend it.I was able to store multiple very heavy sewing machines on every shelf of this unit. Wish I had just one more shelf for the top for more storage. This unit is amazing and can hold a massive amount of weight.. Much sturdier that I thought it would be and the dimensions are ideal.. Doesn't move or sway an inch! I had a heck of a time finding any kind of a strudy storage rack that was only 30 inches wide as that was my max width I could use. I much better than I was even hoping for.. Plus came with extra spare pieces and was very well packed. A++++ No, I did not receive anything for this review, just wanted to give good credit where credit is due!Storage area.Worked perfect for our needs. So this is an odd one, this product does not match the picture at least when we bought it. We actually bought two of them. Why do that? We needed to fit 60+ cardboard trays onto 8 shelves. This way our product could be picked all from one rack. Why odd? You can get another shelf, so we could have ordered one unit and 4 shelves. The problem is the 4 extra shelves cost way, way more than the entire unit did. So we bought two.The think that is driving us nuts is what to do with all the extra legs? Hard to throw out good steel. Quantum! Yes you! If you are reading this, make a product that has 8 shelves. Most of us would rather not pollute the earth if we don't have to.The bars going the wrong way were solved by adding coroplast (this is a plastic corrugated product like cardboard.) putting that on top of the shelf the cardboard shelves slide fine.Assembly, 3 office workers took it on as a project, went together fine with no help from the facilities people.Minus one star since it would be nice if the rack went the right way. If you are food service this is going to drive you nuts!I seldom leave reviews as I find it unnecessary when there are existing reviews that are accurate and complete, however that is not the case with this particular shelving unit's reviews. I have existing shelving units of this style, and I ordered a 36" W x 18" D x 72"H unit from a different manufacturer at the same time that I ordered this particular 30" W x 18" D x 72"H unit; in comparison between the three different manufacturers, the shelves I have and the other brand are very similar in design and construction....very heavy/sturdy shelving units with the shelving wires being spaced about 3/4" center to center and running front to back (perpendicular to the width of the unit), which makes sliding items onto and off of the shelves easier. This Quantum storage systems RWR72-1830LD shelving unit is MUCH lighter weight, with the shelving wire running parallel to the width of the unit and spaced at 1-1/4". Between the wires being orientated side to side, and the 1-1/4 spacing, I believe that sliding smaller boxes/items on and off these shelves would be tricky (my intended use for this shelving unit was for placement in a kitchen pantry). Now the verbal description does not specify the wiring orientation or spacing (it seems that none of the various manufacturers/listings denote this), but the picture both on the webpage AND ON THE BOX THAT THE UNIT CAME IN, show the shelving unit's wire supports as running front to back and having the 3/4" spacing. Hence my major disappointment in this product. When ordering online, one has to rely on the given information and when the given information/description is not accurate it creates headaches and hassles for all involved (my return has already been initiated...thank you Amazon for your great return policy!).I appreciate reviews that point out issues, or benefits, that are not apparent in the product's listing....and there is definitely an issue with the listing for the shelving unit that I received. Based on the fact that the picture on the manufacturer's shipping box does not match the actual shelving unit, I think that this is a case where the manufacturer changed the product without updating the product's description. SO, beware that this unit is not built as shown in the listing as of 4/22/15. A closing word of advice in comparing the many shelving options available on Amazon; use the shipping/item weight during comparison of different shelving units for an indication as to how heavily made a particular unit might be. The sturdy 36" wide unit (from a different manufacturer) that I ordered at the same time as this 30" wide Quantum brand unit, weighs almost twice as much as this 30" wide unit!I put it together by myself. It was pretty easy. The numbering was helpful but you have to hide the numbers in the back (numbers) labeled on the 4 posts for support. It’s helpful but if you use it in area you don’t want people to see the numbers. Shipping wise my box wasn’t bent and pretty level so I actually ordered 2 more in another size. I was worried about the reviews getting it bent and having to return it ( hassle). I hope my new order is as great as the first.I dont think can go over 150lbGreat product, as advertised.
