For the price point, this is an excellent choice. Very easy to set up and easy instructions that make sense. The planks are not real wood, but MDF (medium-density fibreboard) a veneer that looks like wood. It's pretty obvious close up on the edges, but it's not so bad. The embossed grain on the veneers looks great. Again, this reduces the overall price and since I have a lot of stuff on the shelves, you can't see much of the "wood". I like how the shelves are deep. Just don't get MDF wet!The structure/frame is solid. This can hold a lot of weight. The legs have adjustable feet if you have uneven floors and the back of the shelf is reinforced with braces (that make an "x"). Mine is used for books so if you need to put about 100+ books on it, it can handle it and look nice. It won't look great, but for books there is enough room for two rows, but I just have other decorative things in front of the books. Love this thing.
