Great quaility for the price. Perfect size for my space. Sturdy enough to hold everything. Looks good too. Shelves even have pins in them to keep them from sliding. Very happy with this purchase. It's amazing how much storage space this provides over a 6' x30" unit.We bought two of these. The fit and finish on these are very nice making this the bargain of the century.A few notes:The units we received are a little different from what is pictured. In the picture it shows the sides extending a bit above the top. The ones we received had the top extending over the sides, so the entire top is at the same level. Better than what is pictured, in my opinion. The packaging was very adequate, lots of Styrofoam surrounding the wood. No problems with damage. Nice two-day delivery with Amazon Prime.I don't know why this is titled a Corner Bookcase. They're fine to go along a wall, especially if you want to hang pictures over them. I also don't know why this is associated with a kitchen. They look great in our office.A couple of assembly tips:The boards are held together with long screws and round clips. There is a Phillips cross on top of the round clips, but one line of the cross is a bit longer than the others making this look a little like a dagger instead of a cross. This longer line goes towards the hole where the screw is coming in. Unfortunately the instructions don't explain this. You should be able to turn the clips a half turn to tighten the connection. There are 4 caps to cover the visible round clips. Since the clips were a little recessed the caps didn't attach to these, but since the clips aren't really visible we tossed the caps.I love this bookcase. I actually bought 2 to serve as a wide entertainment center. The bookcases are definitely sturdy enough to hold my TV, players, and other knick-knacks. They were also *very* easy to put together. The directions were clear and I was able to put both of them together myself in a reasonable amount of time (and I am not handy at all).My only complaint is not about the bookcases themselves, but about the warehouse / delivery. When I received them, the boxes looked like they literally fell off the truck. One bookcase was fine, but the other bookcase was completely unusable - it was all scratched up and the box was in such a state that I could not use it to send the bookcase back. The directions inside the box included a number to call in case of a damaged product; however when I called that number, they claimed to not handle damages or returns. They were pretty useless actually - I eventually found a phone number for the seller and they sent a replacement. The box for the replacement wasn't exactly in the greatest shape either, but the bookcase inside was undamaged and the box was usable enough to ship the damaged bookcase back. So, morale of the story. Bookcase = awesome. Shipper = very poor. Definitely check the ratings of the seller before placing your order.A bit of a nuisance to put together but I knew that going in as I'd bought a couple of these from Costco last year. I was concerned about the packaging and possible damage from what I'd read here but mine arrived with no obvious damage. There was a small chip in a piece that's at the bottom rear corner but I don't think it was from shipping as the box wasn't damaged. In any event, I pushed it back into place and it wasn't really noticeable anyway. I'm using this as a TV stand for a 32" flat screen and the two shelves for our overflowing book collection. These are nice shelves because they're faced with real wood veneer so they don't have the cheap look of so many other lower priced bookshelves covered in laminate (like the stuff in the box stores, etc.).I'm hooked. After wasting SO MUCH on crappy big-box bookcases in the last 20 years, I finally grew up and stopped buying the cheap junk that lasts in only one location and cannot handle a move. I bought one of these, put it together in a flash (OMG it is SO easy and the best, SOLID wood construction I've experienced for this kind of shelving), and immediately bought another. Swapped out a parent's bookshelf and ended up buying even more of the larger (and more expensive) shelves. Alera makes SOLID, robust, strong, GREAT FINISH shelving. I've wasted a heck of a lot on junk shelves that I've since had to throw away. Stop wasting money on the cheapest shelves you can get and invest some in shelves that yes you have to assemble, BUT they will LAST. They will take a move and movers. These are NOT cheaply built shelves made of particle board. These are heavy, solid shelves. AND, they LOOK amazing. These shelves look like very expensive furniture when assembled. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!I have purchased five of these bookcases—the first four through Costco, and the fifth through Amazon. The bookcase would easily be five stars except for the fact that the fifth one had a few minor manufacturing flaws that might make it difficult for some to assemble. In particular, several of the shelves had been oversprayed with lacquer, which resulted in the blocking of some of the assembly holes with residual lacquer. It was easily removed with a drill bit, with only slight cracking of the finish on the surface, but some (those without handy drill bits) may not have been able to deal with this issue. Please remember, however, that this situation occurred on only one of the five five examples I purchased.
